5 Tips to Keep Your Space Fresh

Ahhhhh…that fabulous feeling of coming home to a freshly cleaned house can’t be beat, am I right?! The vacuum lines on the sofa, the fluffed pillows, even the air seems cleaner! I truly think that more creativity, innovation, love, and joy happen after a house cleaning, but of course I’m a bit biased.

What I do know for sure is that there are some very simple tricks you can incorporate to prolong the feeling of a just-cleaned house, thus adding to extra creativity, love, and joy in your life! Even choosing one of the five below will make a difference and keep an invigorated pep in your home’s step for that much longer.

Here are 5 Tips that are tried and true ways to extend the cleanliness of your space:

  1. The Quick Sweep – If you’ve got a high traffic home with pets, people, or both — creating a habit of pulling out the broom on a daily basis can make a world of difference.

  2. Go Shoeless – Ok, ok, I know this isn’t for everyone! If it’s not for you here’s your FREE PASS to go right to number three! If you have been tempted to switch to a shoes-at-the-door kind of place, this is your sign and gentle nudge to make it happen. While taking shoes off to enter your house (and asking guests to do the same) is definitely an adjustment, it makes a tremendously positive impact on keeping your home clean by keeping the outside out and the inside clean.

  3. The Squeegee is Your Magic Wand – If you have glass doors in your bathroom, doing a quick swoosh or two with a squeegee at the end of your shower will make small miracles happen. I promise you this.

  4. The Truth About Countertops – Contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to break out cleaning supplies every time you wipe down your countertops. A good antimicrobial cleaning rag mixed with hot water and sixty seconds of elbow grease every evening in your kitchen will make a big impact.

  5. Five Minutes Matters – Perhaps it’s just me, but I can get worked up when my home feels out of sorts and get overwhelmed by the amount of time it is going to take me to have it to my level of high standards. PRO TIP: Overwhelm never helps but taking action does! Set a timer for just five minutes and get after a section of a room, a drawer, or a closet and see how you feel afterwards when you look at your quick progress!
